Looks good, tastes great, and is amazing for you – this alkaline juice gets your body’s pH level back in balance and will have you feeling more energetic. Having a healthy pH balance is important to your entire body’s health.
pH is “power of hydrogen” – a measurement of the hydrogen ion concentration in your body. Your pH influences your body’s physiological activity, like metabolism and rates of disease, and a healthy pH can be maintained by eating properly.
Level Up
The total pH scale ranges from 1 to 14, making 7 neutral or “in balance”. You want to be slightly alkaline, but anywhere between 7.30 and 7.45. There are ways to test your pH levels and it’s as easy as peeing on a strip of litmus paper first thing in the morning.
When your body is slightly more alkaline, red blood cells are capable of carrying more oxygen. If you’re too alkaline however, the RBCs won’t be able to fully release the oxygen, which could lead to over-alkaline toxicity being as bad for you as being overly acidic.
Balance Is Essential
The most common form of pH imbalance is being overly acidic. You stomach needs acid to do it’s job, but outside of the stomach acid causes hormonal and digestive problems, to name a few. Too much acid leads to general health problems, but also makes it super difficult to lose weight.
A slightly alkaline environment lets your metabolic, enzymatic, and immunologic systems and your body’s repair mechanisms work their best. So make this drink a toast to good health!

The reason this drink works so well at helping weight loss is because it’s an awesome alkaline, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory juice. Let’s see why it’s so good:
Baby Spinach
Packed with chlorophyll, membrane proteins, vitamins A, E, and K, and antioxidants. The compounds found in baby spinach have been shown to stop cravings by helping you feel fuller for longer and help you digest fat for effectively.
Kale:
Another one rich in chlorophyll, kale also has a ton of vitamin K to help balance blood sugar levels. A good source of fiber, kale is a great green veggie for weight loss.
Beetroot:
Beets have betalains which provide similar benefits as kale. But beetroot is also a diuretic which will help you get rid of water retention more effectively. The betalains also help lower blood pressure and get rid of fatty deposits in the liver, which helps your body to lose weight, especially for those who are overweight.
Beetroot is also full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories that do your body good.
Cucumber:
A highly alkaline diuretic, cucumber has anti-inflammatoy and antioxidant written all over it. Cucumber also contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol – lignans that are strongly linked to reduced cardiovascular risks.
Cinnamon:
A natural way to control your blood sugar levels, cinnamon improves your body’s insulin-use and helps to control hunger and craving. Cinnamon also plays a key role in letting your body used stored fat.
Alk-align Your Health
Even if you aren’t totally into the alkaline diet, this drink recipe is full of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants that are so beneficial for your body. I’ll end with a quote from a study on alkaline diets:
“From the evidence outlined above, it would be prudent to consider an alkaline diet to reduce morbidity and mortality of chronic disease that are plaguing our aging population.”
